What I do

I cut hedges. I reduce overgrown ones.

That is it. I do not do tree surgery, lawn care, fencing or the rest of the garden-services bundle. Hedges are a craft worth being good at, and I keep my focus narrow so I am.

Why local matters here

Much of Broadstairs' Victorian and Edwardian core sits inside one of the town's four conservation areas, Broadstairs CA, St Peter's CA, Reading Street CA or Kingsgate CA, and the section-211 rules apply to any tree over 75mm at chest height. The clifftop belt from Stone Bay up to Kingsgate sits above the Thanet Coast SSSI and the Thanet Coast & Sandwich Bay SPA/Ramsar site, so cliff-edge and roof-adjacent work in nesting season needs a survey before anything starts. The Margate Chalk under the topsoil is thin, marl-free, and sharply alkaline, beech and Leylandii struggle where escallonia and Olearia thrive. Manston records about 1,800 hours of sunshine and around 615mm of rain a year; new plantings fail from drought here more often than most people expect.

A contractor without that patch-specific knowledge will not know any of it without being told. I work this coast every week. The conservation-area paperwork is included. How I work

Photos and postcode for an initial quote. I can give a fixed price for most routine cuts without coming out. Reductions usually need a site visit (free, no obligation).
Fixed-price quotes. No day-rate creep. If the job runs longer than I expected, that is my problem, not yours.
Conservation-area paperwork handled. If your address needs a section-211 notice to Thanet District Council, I file it. Cost included in the quote.
Nesting-aware timing on cliff-adjacent work. A quick survey before any Mar–Sep work within reach of the SSSI edge, and honest advice on what should wait for October.
All arisings cleared. I take the clippings away or chip them, and never burn them on site.
Bank transfer or cash. Invoice or receipt either way.

What you will not get

A salesman trying to upsell a "garden makeover."
A quote that doubles when I arrive.
A botched cut to compensate for not telling you the hedge actually needs a reduction.
A quiet cliff-edge job in June that ignores the nesting law.
